I am very disappointed with my experience at Summerville Emergency Vet. I brought my puppy in because he was vomiting, urinating on himself, refusing to eat or drink, and could barely walk. I was extremely worried that he was seriously ill. When I arrived, I was asked to sign paperwork authorizing an estimated $600–$1,200 for tests and treatment. I specifically told them I was not agreeing to any testing until I had spoken with the veterinarian first, but I felt like my concerns were ignored. We waited about an hour and a half before the doctor came in. During that time, my puppy sat alone in a cage near other dogs, visibly shivering and scared. When the veterinarian finally came to speak with us, we had only been talking for a few minutes before she interrupted our conversation to leave and perform an X-ray on another patient. I understand that emergency hospitals have to prioritize critical cases, and I appreciate that emergencies happen. However, I felt there was very little communication about the delay or what was happening with my puppy. As a pet owner, it was heartbreaking to watch him suffer while feeling like we were not being kept informed. I hope this feedback encourages better communication with families and more compassion for pets and their owners during such stressful situations.

The places a great location in Summerville to take your pet for any kind of emergency. The employees that helped me and my pet did assure me that she would be okay. All ended well. I would however make a suggestion that when they leave a pet owner sitting in a room by their self that they should update them more than once, every 45 minutes. The anticipation of what was going on with my pet in a emergency situation, hearing all the animals barking and squealing as if they were hurt was too much and made me upset to the point that I was getting stressed out and ultimately angry. Other than that I will take my pet back in an emergency situation.
